Paris

Paris, Tennessee (Henry County)

Paris (i.e., the one in Europe) was a Roman town long before it was ever French.
Of course, it was Celtic before it was Roman.
The Eiffel Tower of Paris, Tennessee . . . a gift from the city of Memphis.

Ancient Lutetia

Sample Latin Text:

Julius Caesar, De Bello Gallico 7.57

Caesar on the conquest of Lutetia (modern Paris), a town in the territory of a Celtic tribe known as the Parisii.

Loeb Translation:

"While this was happening with Caesar, Labienus had left the draft of recruits newly arrived from Italy at Agedincum to guard the baggage, and with four legions started for Lutetia, a town of the Parisii, situated on an island in the river Seine. When the enemy had news of his coming, a large force assembled from the neighboring states."
